The Berlin School of Mind and Brain invites applications for a three-year Postdoc position at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, starting on 1 February 2008.
Area of specialization: Philosophy of Mind or Philosophy and Neuroscience.
Area of competence: Philosophy of Science, Neuroscience and/or Psychology.
A focus on one of the school’s main research topics − ‘conscious and unconscious perception’, ‘decision-making’, ‘language’, ‘brain plasticity and lifespan ontogeny’, or ‘brain disorders and mental dysfunction’ − is desirable.
The Berlin School of Mind and Brain was established in November 2006 and is funded by the national Initiative for Excellence. Its research focus lies at the interface of the humanities and behavioral sciences with neurosciences. The innovative teaching program provides lectures from all the fields relevant for mind/brain-related research such as neurophysiology, cognitive sciences, philosophy, and neuroimaging.
The successful candidate is expected to pursue a project at the interface between philosophy and neuroscience. He or she will be a member of the Berlin School of Mind and Brain and of the Institute of Philosophy at Humboldt-Universität. He or she will be expected to teach at Master and PhD level (four courses per year) and participate in the school’s activities.
