7th Winter School Ethics and Neuroscience

Organized by BCCN Berlin and Berlin School of Mind and Brain

The annual Berlin Winter School on "Ethics and Neuroscience" is aimed at MSc and PhD students in the field of cognitive neuroscience, clinical neuroscience, psychology and philosophy. It covers a range of topics reflecting on the ethical and societal consequences of modern neuroscience. The course is also open to researchers from other fields. The school offers two parallel tracks: The Philosophical Track focuses on theoretical aspects, metaethics and moral responsibility. The Empirical Track offers theoretical foundations as well as a number of practical ethical aspects in neuroscience, such as animal research, clinical practice, deep brain stimulation, neuroenhancement, brain reading, neurolaw, good scientific practice, and ethics committees. Besides the lectures the course also involves group work and presentations by the participants. There is the possibility to change between the tracks halfway through the school.
